People
leave
organizations
for all
kinds of
reasons,
but the
main
reason
is the
relationships
that
they
have
with
their
direct
supervisor
and
co-workers.
According
to the
Bureau
of Labor
Statistics,
a bad
relationship
with an
employee’s
direct
supervisor
is the
primary
reason
that the
employee
will
leave
their
job.
People
quit
long
before
they
turn in
their
resignation.
Something
happens,
a
relationship
goes
bad,
feelings
get
hurt, or
needs go
unmet.
Whatever
the
reasoning,
something
happens
that
causes a
person
to be
open to
new
opportunities
outside
of their
current
employment.
The goal
of the
Exit
Interview
is to
provide
an
avenue
for
individuals
to
express
what
and/or
who is
behind
their
desire
to
leave.
The main
excuse
that is
given is
that
they
were
offered
more
money.
The
reality
is that
they
were not
offered
more
money
until
they
were
looking
for it.
Take
time to
uncover
the
truth
with
each of
the
people
that
moves on
from
your
organization.
Learn:
• Why
they are
leaving
• What prompted their desire to go
• When the problem started
• Where they are going
• And, how the problem can be prevented in the future
